St. John Baptist / Hospice Buffalo House Site Dedication
Minister Dr. Michael Chapman, Pastor/CEO and St. John Baptist Church Commemorate a historical event during their 80th Anniversary Celebration.

(Buffalo, New York) On Sunday, April 29th, St. John Baptist Church and Hospice Buffalo hosted a site dedication for the $2.8 million St. John Baptist/Hospice Buffalo House, at 111 Maple Street. Rev. Otis Moss Jr., pastor of Olivet Institutional Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio led the ceremony. Minister Dr. Michael Chapman, Pastor/CEO is the visionary of the first-in-the-nation collaborative project between a church and a hospice program. "The St. John Baptist Church recognizes the need to provide a faith-based sensitivity to members of the faith community who need convenient transitional services provided within the faith community," says Minister Dr. Michael Chapman. "We need to increase access to hospice services by removing barriers to care, creating access to critical health care services, and encouraging patient choice and self-determination. The Hospice House will serve the entire community."

The St. John Fruit Belt Community Development Corporation thanked the City of Buffalo for endorsing the Revitalization Project. Several local community foundations have provided further funding. The funding sources include: The John R. Oishei Foundation, The Margaret L. Wendt Foundation, The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, The Community Health Foundation of Western & Central New York (Education and Outreach Grant), the WNY Federal Delegation led Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples, the County of Erie, the City of Buffalo, WNY State allocation from the Empire State Development Corp and The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care.
